*These courses comprise the expected education for a Reader. Readers tonsured without equivalent formation should plan to complete the courses and practicum within three years of tonsuring. All Readers desiring consideration for entry into major orders must complete the Certificate of Orthodox Studies program or an approved substitute.
+These courses, in addition to the courses for the Reader’s Certificate, comprise the expected education for a Deacon. In addition to the required courses, the candidate should complete at least one course in the schedule or an approved language course from an approved provider. Upon completion of these courses, the candidate is awarded the Associate of Sacred Theology diploma.
Candidates seeking ordination to the Holy Priesthood should consult with their bishop regarding an appropriate course of study beyond the AST program.
